Album Notes
The Tan is back, and there aint nothin’ else like it! Tavern Tan shambled into the studio once again in 2012 for their latest and fourth release on Fez Monkey Records, All The Right Mistakes. This time with Wayne Becker at the helm as engineer, craft beer/whiskey taster and co-producer, the band whips up a new set of their original brand of melodic, eclectic roots and rock n’ roll music for your pleasure, captured in the live room of Becker’s great studio in Allentown, PA—Westwires Recording USA.
If you want polished, machine made pop music, look elsewhere! Mistakes were made, but all the right ones, as America’s favorite bar band shows that they can lay into a ghostly electric blues like “Devil Come Up’ and “Moonlight”, full of big drums, big guitars and fat blues harp, while also writing dynamic, sweet lil’ rock n’ rollers like the ‘can’t we all just get along—or not” manifesto of “Demolish Me” (with a bit of a tribute to The Soft Boys) and the rollicking slice of lifers, “Found My Shades” and “The Big Win”. A song about silent film star Louise Brooks, “Baby Bring a Gun”, and the driving “Lights Go Down” show off Tavern Tan’s ability for rootsy acoustic-driven music with simple but deft wordplay. “Like a Madman” and “Pinewood Overcoat” are mood pieces that show yet another side of these boys’ penchant for delivering a varied and authentic group of original tunes. We could go on and on, Pilgrims, but you’d best just better check it out for yourself! See Tavern Tan's website for more details, and make sure you leave some reviews below for the good people at CDBaby and Fez Monkey Records! Excelsior!
