Album Overview:
Originally I was supposed to record my album over the course of a year in the studios at my former college, McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, MN. In December of 2017, the school ran out of money and shut down, leaving me a college refugee with no idea where to turn or what to do next. One of my former professors and mentors, Jeff Harrington, took me under his wing and made it his mission to help me still record the album (Jeff, without you I'd be totally lost. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for guiding me through the storm and for giving me this incredible opportunity to share my music with the world.). The album was recorded and mixed by Jake Carlson (Defhaus Studios), co-produced by Jake Carlson and Jeff Harrington, and mastered by Greg Reierson (Rare Form Mastering). Instead of recording the album in a year's time, we did it in 2 weeks in the middle of winter in Minnesota. I worked and froze my butt off alongside 9 other insanely talented musicians to get this thing done. There was no theme in mind for the album. It's a collection of songs I've written in the past year that I feel represent me as an artist at this point. The title "Fingers Crossed" comes from the song "Rabbit Hole". Looking back, the one thing most of the songs have in common is that they all contain some kind of hope. Some songs are about maintaining hope while others are about losing it.

Songs Overview

1. Don't Wait Up -- a grunge-rock song about feeling trapped in a toxic relationship.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Luke Heffron- backup vocals
Derrick Holleman- lead guitar
Emily Matteson- drums
David Rapheal- bass

2. Rabbit Hole -- a dreamy acoustic introspective song about a torrid summer fling that is doomed to burn itself out.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Tony Axtell- bass
Mark Knoll- lead guitar
Madie VandenHeuvel- backup vocals
Hailey Ward- backup vocals

3. Jump on 3 -- In 2017, I competed and performed as a New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival. I wrote Jump on 3 in a song circle with other New Folk. Jump on 3 is a catchy yet emotional tune about how hard it is to dive back into love after you've had your heart broken so many times. This song ended up bringing me back to Kerrville as a New Folk finalist in 2018.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Tony Axtell- bass
Mark Knoll- lead guitar
Emily Matteson- shaker

4. Empathy -- a groovin' pop-rock jam about how having too much empathy can be a bad thing because it makes it easy for someone to take advantage of you.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Luke Heffron- backup vocals
Derrick Holleman- lead guitar
Emily Matteson- drums
David Rapheal- bass

5. Edge of the Universe -- I wrote this song a few days after my grandfather passed away and a few days before what would have been my friend's 19th birthday. Edge of the Universe is a simple yet raw song that is packed full of emotion. It's about being reunited with your loved ones after you've lived a full life, when the time is right. It is a song that makes you tear up, but still smile through the tears.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and guitar
Madie VandenHeuvel- backup vocals
Hailey Ward- backup vocals

6. Beautiful Too -- a light-hearted almost bouncy tune about a serious topic. It's about how women tend to compare themselves to each other and when we think another woman is beautiful we tend to look down upon ourselves and think we're ugly. A woman's self-worth has nothing to do with her opinion of someone else, hence the message of the song, "She may be beautiful but why can't you be beautiful too?". Beautiful Too was one of the songs I performed as a New Folk Finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 2018.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and guitar
Emily Matteson- shaker and tambourine
Marlowe Teichman- ukelele

7. Half Moon Smile -- a fun folk song with a very powerful message. The inspiration for Half Moon Smile came from a book about a girl and a boy who have given up on life. In the end they fall in love and the girl changes her mind and tries to save the boy before it's too late. This song is from the point of view of the girl telling the boy all the reasons why he has to keep going.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Tony Axtell- bass
Jake Carlson- guitar
Mark Knoll- lead guitar
Emily Matteson- bass drums and brushes

8. I Learned -- a sassy blues-rock post break-up jam. It's about getting pissed off at the person who hurt you, being pissed off at yourself, and then finding clarity and closure in knowing that this is the last time you will ever let yourself be used or broken.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Luke Heffron- backup vocals
Derrick Holleman- lead guitar
Emily Matteson- drums
David Rapheal- bass

9. Fresh Cut -- a stripped down acoustic song that tells a painful story about a girl who loved a really messed up boy, a boy who loved her back and needed her until he picked himself up, pulled himself together, and threw her away.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and guitar

10. Wander -- a sweet and easygoing love song about simply being with the person you love and being happy and content in the moment.
Teghan Devon- lead vocals and guitar
Luke Heffron- backup vocals
