Album Notes
"I have been waiting for an album like this for years! Finally it's here!" Steve Pritchard, CKLN Radio DJ
Teilhard Frost makes old time traditional music of North America, particularly the music found in the Appalachian Highlands. Many of the songs sung by Teilhard were once heard in the Atlantic provinces of Canada as well as the eastern seaboard of the United States of America. Most of these songs are directly related to older songs found in the British Isles, brought to North America with immigrating Europeans and British settlers. Once here, these songs and tunes started their new evolution, tucked away in the valleys and highlands, out at sea and away on the islands, developing a strong, distinct style of their own. With a love for these connections, Teilhard sings these songs and plays the tunes with relish and abandon, living within each piece and making it his own. The banjos used in this recording were made by Teilhard Frost, Clifford Glenn, and Goldtone Banjos. The fiddle is a mystery given to Teilhard by Folkway Music in Waterloo Ontario, the jawharp is a Morchang from Rajasthan. Harmonicas by Suzuki.
All tracks recorded live off the floor, as you hear them. The second fiddle parts were played by Sheesham Crow, as was the Morchang.
