Telomere's fifth album - highly recommended space music
I first discovered Telomere (alias for Christopher McDonald) in 2006, when he had already released his first two albums, Astral Currents (1998) and Zoetosis (2001), and I was just blown away by those warm, heavy, immersive, drifting sounds that one instinctively associates with interplanetary space, which I eventually learned was created on an analog synthesizer from the 70s called "The Mighty Serge", not quite as well-known as the Moog and Buchla synthesizers, yet with equally impressive capacity for generating fascinating sound worlds. Those two albums were then followed up by The Stellar Sea (2007) and Lux Primordia (2013), and now (2018) he has released his fifth album: Supergiant.

Only five albums in twenty years may not seem overly productive, but then this is not music that is "churned out" with little effort; on the contrary, it is obvious how much time and thinking is put into each well-crafted track. It is really hard to put into words all the feelings and associations that is washing over you when you are listening to this wonderful and beautiful music, but suffice to say this it is music that resonates within the depths of your soul and puts you in a very positive mindset. If you are familiar with and enjoy perhaps more well-known fellow space musicians Jonn Serrie, Michael Stearns and Kevin Braheny, then you absolutely need to check out Telomere.

For me, space music doesn't get any better than this.
