Album Notes
If Tom Lehrer were to delve into the internet or Noel Coward were to wander into a folk club, the result would be a little like the songs of Terence Blacker. With subjects ranging from one-night stands to dysfunctional families, from discontented expats to the secrets of suburbia, Lovely Little Games showcases Blacker's unusual talent as a twisted troubadour who can bring to life the stories and characters of the modern world with a heartfelt comic twist.

Well-known as a novelist and newspaper columnist, Terence Blacker has played at festivals across the country, has presented a Radio 4 documentary series on politically incorrect music, and once sang on the BBC's The World At One. His one-man show My Village and Other Aliens was part of the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe.

'Blacker’s songs confirm him as a man for tricksy rhymes and a pleasingly mournful middle-aged scepticism (think Jacques Brel meets Tom Lehrer).’
Libby Purves, The Times

‘Had the room in stitches…The secret love child of Richard Digance and Victoria Wood, Blacker seems happiest when puncturing pomposity and self-delusion.’
Dylan Hearn, Suffolk Scribblings.

‘A clever songwriter, social satirist and bittersweet romantic somewhere between Jake Thackray and Jacques Brel.’
John Walsh, Independent

'An angry, smart and funny man.'
Boston Globe

'If Sad Old Bastards With Guitars doesn't make you laugh, then you are one!'
Michael Messer, Music Forum
