Album Notes
Junkyard Ball is the first solo album by freelance fiddler Tero Hyväluoma. The musical core of the album consists of Hyväluoma's new band Frost V. In addition to this Frost V quintet, a large number of top Finnish folk musicians appear on this album, starting from Johanna Juhola to Esko Järvelä.

Tero Hyväluoma, almost omnivorous regarding different music genres, has taken wide variety of influences ignoring the stylistic borders in music, and this can be heard in his compositions. It has been said that his music has features from folk music, jazz, proge and film score. The creation of Hyväluoma’s music has been influenced at least by Jarmo Saari, Timo Alakotila, Jouko Kyhälä, Marzi Nyman, Chich Corea, Béla Fleck, Steve Reich, Béla Bartók, Väsen and Ville Kangas.

The album has been recorded studio live and the number of edits and over dubbings has been minimized. Every musician in Frost V has a big role and improvisation has it's strong place in the music. As a counterbalance to quintet's jamming there are some more sensitive pieces of music presented by various line-ups.

Tero Hyväluoma his backround in Sibelius Academy, bustles without prejudice on the freelance field of the music. In addition to his regular bands, (e.g. Frigg, Snekka, Haaga Folk Machine, Swing42) he is widely known as a session musician in the albums of e.g. Ismo Alanko, Topi Saha, Ville Ojanen, Korpikaani, Stringpurée Band and Poutatorvi, just a few to mention. Tero Hyväluoma plays altogether in c. 30 albums or DVDs. Additionally he has played as a musician in great number of different projects starting from City Theather of Lahti to Kimmo Pohjonen’s Motor symphony or Wood Opera by Timo Alakotila. With his bands, Tero Hyväluoma has played in c. 30 countries (from Europe to North America, Japan and Australia). Tero Hyväluoma has also acted as a composer/arranger, not only to his regular bands but to ‘Folk Big Band’ of Sibelius Academy, Korpiklaani and Topi Saha to name few.
