Album Notes
Jazz guitarist Terrence Brewer called upon jazz and blues vocalist Pamela Rose to lovingly rejoice in the vocal/guitar duo work of Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass. Mellifluous, swinging and intimate, Ella and Joe’s partnership on Pablo Records created four incomparable records, treasured by a generation of music lovers.
Brewer and Rose discovered that those recordings had been deeply influential to them both – and embarked on a journey of rediscovery which has resulted in a new recording Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me – Remembering Ella & Joe.
Pamela Rose is a San Francisco jazz and blues vocalist who has thrilled audiences locally and internationally with her swinging, soulful style. Rose is that rare breed of entertainer who connects solidly with her audience by always delivering a personal and unforgettable musical experience. Her rich, bold, warm voice and easy rapport with musicians thrills audiences of all ages.
Rose is also known for her concerts celebrating remarkable women in blues and jazz. Her “Wild Women of Song” shows resulted in a book and concert series, which has toured nationally over the past eight years. Most recently, Rose created “Blues is a Woman,” a concert featuring a bodacious cast of players/singers which played to sold out audiences in a theatrical run in 2018 and is being reprised for a 2019 run. Rose has seven recordings under her name, is on the Faculty of the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, and continues to perform and teach in the Bay Area.
Recently proclaimed by long-time music scribe, David Becker, as the San Francisco Bay Area’s #1 jazz guitarist, multiple-award winning guitarist Terrence Brewer was inducted into the Pittsburg Arts and Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2016. Brewer is a first-call and in-demand bandleader, record producer, concert performer, studio musician, and one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s foremost and sought after music educators. Brewer has produced and released 10 nationally acclaimed albums on the record label (Strong Brew Music) he started in 2006. Several of those combined to spend over 125 weeks on the national JazzWeek Radio charts weekly top 50. Three of those albums made their way into the top 15 on the national JazzWeek radio charts.
