Album Notes
Blessed with 4 generations of musical genes. I made music my way of life from a very early age. I started singing with my father Cab Kaye and his bebop jazz band as a young girl. Always staying true to jazz, my career has travelled through the genres of bebop, swing, free jazz and now returned to settled into mellow classics and my own compositions..

The 60’s found me singing in London’s jazz clubs, touring Germany with my group at that time - Dave Pike - vibes, Hans Rettenbacher - bass, Joe Nye - drms, Carmel Jones - trmp and Leo Wright - sax. Then on to New York appearing at the Needle’s Eye with another group I put together: Harold Mabern -pno, Richard Davis - Bass and Billy Higgin - drums. Also repeated appearances in Poland and Yugoslavia for the wonderful Jazz Forum Jazz Festivals

The 70’s featured the percussive side of my career. As a percussionist I performed international solo concerts playing traditional African instruments. Major concerts included London's African Art Centre, Italy’s Women’s Jazz Festival in Rome alongside Betty Carter and Sharon Freeman, The Women’s Music Festival at the Melkweg in Amsterdam, Holland and concert tours and TV in New Zealand and USA.

In the 80’s I took time out to do a Masters degree in Ethnomusicology at University of London. Later I became Artist in Residence with Museum of African Art at The Smithsonian Institution, USA - giving concert/lectures as a percussionist and pianist for African and Jazz Studies throughout America.

The 90’s found me returning to my first love of being back at the piano, singing and adding to my list of compositions. And the with millennium began a succession of very successful residencies as piano-entertainer in 5 star hotels and luxury cruise ships.

In 2009 I launched my own record label JAZZCOCKTAIL RECORDS

I'm currently enjoying a lengthy residency as Piano-Entertainer on Fred.Olsen's - Balmoral cruise ship.

A Place I Know
If I could give more than 5 stars for this exemplary example of the vocal art I would do so.Beautifully recorded. Crystal clear diction. Original material. The album has a refective quality and gives on listening a reminder of a kinder simpler time. Buy it you will not be disappointed. Bravo Terri. More please. Keith Wise
