Album Notes
Kickin' the Dream is the creative genius of a singer songwriter finally getting a chance to sit back and reflect upon a new phase of his life. Terry Murphy's 5th solo effort combine some of the finest musicians known to the fine people in the Land of Cheese, aka Wisconsin. It was recorded and co produced by long time sound engineer, David Alley at Utopia Soundwurks studio in Sister Bay, Door County, USA and includes Memphis, award winning, multi instrumentalist Eric Lewis and DC's Lynn Gudmundsun on violin, Paul Sowinski on bass and Rich Higdon on percussion. lending a vocal hand was LA based Claudia Russell. There are many textures to consider when listening to the changes in mood, tempo and topic. Lyrically, the songs invite listeners to take a page out of their own life in "Morning Paper" and wonder about the rhetorical questions of "what would Woody Guthrie say about......" Simply put, Terry Murphy light heartedly celebrates the joys of aging, travel and love while questioning the angst of politics and corporate thieves. In the title track, the seasoned singer songwriter dares people to start living their dreams, with less thought and more action!
