ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Heart Caravan is a rare gem. The mantras transform mind and heart leading to realization of our true peaceful and timeless nature. It transports to a redemptive sphere and carries a healing energy from the ancient lineage of those dedicating their lives to Awakening and compassionate service. A must have for anyone who is serious about meditation.

The CD draws from the tradition of recitation of Pali texts which has continued for over 2,500 years. Pali is the language of early Buddhism. Heart Caravan
includes some beautiful tracks: the world renowned teaching of the Buddha on love and compassion, the Metta Sutta; the Avalokitesvara Dharani which is one of the most ancient Sanskrit mantras, better known as the 'Great Compassion Mantra' of China, Korea and Japan; the Eight Verses of a Transformed Mind which dates back to over 1,000 years to Tibet, (this text offers a comprehensive practice for the cultivation of depth compassion) and the Medicine Buddha mantra which is for alleviating suffering, stress, difficult energy and sickness, while the mantras dedicated to Tara evoke merciful response with the world.

This album was composed by 3 artists, all of whom have a long background as Buddhist practitioners.

Thanissara spent her early life as a Buddhist monastic in the Forest School of Thailand and in ashrams in India. She currently teaches meditation internationally and is co-director of a Dharmagiri hermitage which also supports local Community Engagement projects in South Africa. She is currently resident in the US.

Ravi Cintakavi has been practicing meditation for 15 years, she spent two and a half years on a Buddhist Retreat deepening her practice. She has been trained since the age of 6 as a classical musician. She fell in love with the voice of the divine as it is heard in chanting and music - crossing different ideologies and religions. She found that the sound of a true devotee chanting or singing carries the same redemptive energy regardless of its setting. Today Ravi dedicate her time to arranging and composing music in her own music production studio at home - seeking to capture and express the voice of the sincere seeker on its spiritual journey. She is also teaching at a small private school in Pretoria, South Africa.

Mel Zeki is a Buddhist yogi in the Open Heart Open Mind school of life. Her trainings have encompassed Western classical violin, Theravada buddhist monasticism, carpentry and joinery and Irish fiddle. She is currently running a recording studio in East Sussex, UK where spiritual music will continue to flow, unabated for many years to come.

10% of income from Heart Caravan goes to support Community Engagement Projects, currently focusing on HIV/Aids Outreach programs in KwaZulu, South Africa
