Album Notes
The Bowmans are a twin sister harmony based 'roller coaster' duo, dubbed as such due to the lush and moving arrangements that pull the listener in and take you along for the ride. Or was it a comment about how the songs convey stories of constant touring, or their perpetual motion lifestyle in NYC? By now, it's impossible to tell.

Composer Sarah Bowman has topped everything this time, deciding with her sister Claire to make a modern classic album for the holiday season. Sarah had just finished her first major serious work for choir, wind ensemble, pipe organ and 7 piece rock band when the songs for 'Make Sure the Snow Falls' started to come to her. She lives and writes now in Switzerland.

"Christmas has always been a special time for my sisters and I. We always spread as much cheer as we could around the neighborhood and among the members of our gigantic family. We sang our hearts out year after year. It hit me that all that magic could be captured and shared again and again, despite our physical distance from each other now."

Sarah wrote 6 original tunes inspired by her collection, which ranges from Bach to Etta and Louis to Vince Guaraldi's 'Christmastime Is Here' to Ensemble Galilei's 'Ancient Noels' to Danny Elfman's 'Edward Scissorhands' soundtrack to Bing Crosby and far, far beyond. Her non-musical influence, Jim Henson, inspired her to go even further. "I believe that magic and joy are closely linked, and the time at which this link is most globally present is at Christmas. I wanted the music to represent that link, and now we think it does!"

Oddly enough, the title song, 'Make Sure the Snow Falls' brought some interesting activity around the globe on occasion. Coincidence? We think not. Often when people close to the sisters were posting or complaining about unseasonable snow falls, it was while Sarah was hard at work on this particular song. "'Knock it off' friends started to post. The CD arrived in Switzerland on October 10th. It snowed here that day. Over the period of more than 2 years in the making, this has been a recurring theme- Easter, May, even June last year... I've issued many apologies already by now!"

Besides the unusual influence the music seems to have on the weather, it is our prediction that this album will be the next classic holiday album that is played on repeat for generations to come. The beauty, joy and warmth this album gives is the gift that keeps on giving. It recaptures old favorites in delightful and new ways that make it hard to believe they've not been done like this before. Sarah's own compositions, and the superb performances of the 3 talented Bowman sisters, create a timeless atmosphere that again seems hard to believe these tunes haven't been around for ages. This album will last more than a lifetime. It is the album you've been waiting for.

And if that's not enough to get you clicking, there's more. Claire's well kept secret of being a unique and serendipitous painter has been unleashed in the illustrated story 'Mert, the Anxious Evergreen' which is being released side by side with the album. The sisters successfully rallied on, funding the combined project with the support of fans who joined in to be a part of the whirlwind Christmas in July campaign and tour. Fans equated the thrilling experience of last minute pledges to a last second winning goal in the world cup. It's no wonder Claire and Sarah collapsed together in joy at that final moment! "All of our hard work had already reached the world and it was so heartwarming to share that feeling with our fans."

Sarah writes in the chorus of 'First Verses-' Familiar words and tunes pass like a candle's flame... and we think this album will certainly catch on!

'Make Sure the Snow Falls' Available October 29th on iTunes and online stores everywhere. Pre-order through The Bowmans website.
