Album Notes
Back in the fall of 2007, the band had just come of the road, another European tour. Frontman Dave Kincaid had the idea to arrange and record our own version of this classic Otis Redding tune, and the approach was: "what if, The Who had included this song in their set for Live at Leeds".. A lot of our arrangements on all of the album have begun with programmed drums, as that what's readily available in the home studio, though these are almost always replaced later with live drums. Dave spent a fair amount of time working up this particular one - a pretty wild Keith Moon-style drum track. Most people don't know that Dave actually started out as a drummer, and with this particular program you actually play electronic trigger pads into the computer which records what you play, and triggers genuine drums sounds from within the program's sound library. You can then go back and edit and revise what you played, and come out with a very convincing drum track, which is what we have here.

Ernie Mendillo (bass), and Dave then just played through a pass just to get an idea of where it was going, just for a demo. It was all done live - lead vocal, guitar and bass playing along with the programmed drums. We thought, "that's a good demo, we'll come back and do the real takes for it and add to the track later." Well, later never came, and the track sat as-is and untouched for twelve years. Dave went back to it with the idea of doing a polished, finished version, but upon hearing it, it was clear that it didn't need anything, it had a nice, live energy and he wasn't going to get better performances than the ones that were already there. Just a few minor edits and we were done. Recording can be a very tedious, drawn-out difficult business, but sometimes you get lucky. One-take songs are an extreme rarity in our experience, but this one turned out to be one of them. It really helped being hot off of the road, with the voices and chops strong and in good form.

It's great to finally be able to release this one, rock on..
