ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Common Folk is a music project started by Ian Hazelwood, beginning as an alternative acoustic project, with influences ranging from City and Colour, Brand New, and Tim Baker. What seems to be a quaint, emotional, raw, stripped down delivery of music, will one day evolve into something on a larger scale that listeners of amount of genres can connect with and enjoy.

For The Common Folk's first release, Northern Highways tells a raw unfiltered story of the full circle of love. We all go through different experiences in our lives, and all of us may not understand the feeling of love, but love can hide, it can start, and it can end, and we can reflect.

We can be afraid of our past, which causes us to be afraid of falling in love; we can get over that fear and be in love; love can end and transform, which can give us a feeling like we don't belong anywhere, only to then reflect on our own mistakes, any damage we have caused to others, to truly try and be better to others, and most importantly, ourselves.
