Album Notes
After an impromptu Christmas party gig in 2014, supporting Dave Mathews Band keyboardist - Butch Taylor, Dane Alderson, Brian Mesko, and Forrest Young became a working ensemble. Their first gig as a trio was at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke Virginia, right down the street from where Snarky Puppy recorded their Grammy winning song with Layla Hathaway, Something. Dane and Brian were already seasoned veterans of The Jospe Express, a group with Butch and drummer/leader, Robert Jospe. Mesko and drummer, Forrest Young, had collaborated numerous times over the years in different bands, including a high energy organ trio, The Rootdowns.

Their debut album as The Danktet, One Thing Right, all began when Young shared Mesko a simple guitar riff he'd been casually plucking for well over a decade. Fascinated with the compositional possibilities, Mesko wrote a B section and invited Alderson to help expand its harmonic landscape. Mesko surprised Young one day with a recording of a jam session on the new tune with Alderson. Later entitled, One Thing Right, the song has proved more than muse enough to inspire The Danktet to create an album’s worth of new music together!

These three musicians are oustanding in every regard, and this album is a real treat to my ears. The musicianship, the sound, the artwork -- all in all, a top-notch release from world-class musicians -- imaginative and inspired. Highly recommended!
