The natural succession of complex yet lively pop would be as follows: The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Walker Brothers, The Who...culminating with The Details!
Get ready to dance to the music of the first Romanian power pop project!
New life is brought to the music of the 60's, in a flurry of rich vocal harmonies, surf rock, dream pop, jazz, and theremin, further carrying the torch of Brian Wilson's initial concept when creating The Beach Boys’ "Pet Sounds": painting pure feelings with music. More ambitiously, the goal is to make power pop relevant again, as a genre, and to revive the grandiosity of immortal music achieved by Big Star, Jellyfish, The Raspberries, Dwight Twilley, Philip Seymour, Badfinger, Scott Walker, along with numerous others.
Conceptualized, performed by and produced by Matei Tibacu-Blendea, the debut EP "To Charles Dickens and Back" has already been praised by the likes of Henry Rollins, and artists from The Doors, The Beach Boys, Iggy & The Stooges, The Flamin' Groovies, Big Star, Faith No More, Einstürzende Neubauten and many more. Recorded in Canterbury (UK) and Bucharest (Romania), the EP features guest appearances by such notable talents as pianist Greg Kuehn (T.S.O.L., Bob Dylan, Berlin, X, Ian Astbury) and poet Stephen Kalinich (a valuable poet who started working with the Beach Boys in the late '60s and continues to do so to this day, as well as with Paul McCartney, The Pixies, and Brian May of Queen). In its live incarnation, The Details already conquered the hearts of audiences at a number of exclusive venues and festivals in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Timisoara, Ramnicu Valcea, Sibiu, Constanta, Pitesti, some highlights including the opportunity to have shared the stage with The Hives, or having headlined the DokStation film festival curated by The Clash's Grammy Award winning film maker Don Letts, in 2018.
Airwaves have already resonated with the sonic sentimental rollercoaster that is The Details, stretching between USA, Belgium, and Romania, with appearances on Radio Guerilla, Gold FM, Radio Romania Cultural, on "Coverville" in Colorado, and "The Watt From Pedro Show" in California, bassist Mike Watt's (Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Minutemen, Sonic Youth, etc.) own radio show. The Details are sure to leave a lasting impact and put a nostalgic spell on anyone who seeks to be shown a display of their own feelings.
The Details transpose feelings into music.
