ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The music of Doctor Doug and the Dirty Shoes Band reflects decades of varied musical influence. The recently released CD by this eclectic piano-based group shows the influence on Doug's songwriting of the roots-based blues, rock, jazz, and country with which he grew up. In live performance besides performing their own songs, the band particularly enjoys creating renditions of songs that might not be considered piano blues types of works. One might hear a variation on a song by their favorite classic rock band or a blues version of a country tune, not just the standard blues songs that might be expected. Doug has a particular affinity for the music of The Band and Little Feat, so those artists are well represented in the band's repertory, and the Dirty Shoes Band's original songs reflect those styles as well as the influence of New Orleans style piano greats such as Jelly Roll and Professor Longhair. Still, everything the band does bears the Dirty Shoes Band stamp, a style all their own.
