ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In the summer of 1986, four very young and spry gentlemen found each other at the University of North Texas (Prior to 1989 it was North Texas State University) in Denton. With rock music in their blood and many beers as well, The Dogs were born. The original members were Lee Hillis, Jon Mann, Sander Hickerson and Wes Kucera. They played their original music all around Denton at various clubs, including The Library, The Enterprise and Golden Eagle Grill. The Dogs eventually made their mark at quasi-college stardom by performing at the Rock Bottom Lounge. This event was videotaped for a promotional ad for the University.

Almost 27 years later, Sander and Wes reunited with current bandmates from other musical adventures Brian Busch, Molly Fine and Byron Palla to form The Dogensteins. In addition to Wes ‘playing with sticks’ and Sander’s picking prowess (DANGER: flying picks!), Brian rocks his ‘smoking’ accordion, Molly belts out her goregeouso voice and Byron brings a ‘saxy’ sax to the band. This new band reiteration combines an eclectic mix of musical styles including Cha Cha, Reggae, Ska, Bossa Nova, Rock, and Swing all neatly wrapped around the polka rhythm. We hope you enjoy our first recording. When you see us at the next gig, come by and say “Hi” and join us for one of our many beer toasts. Prost!!

No musicians were harmed during the making of this album. The Dogensteins and Alpine Village Band are not responsible for damage done to hearing or other physical injuries from attempting to dance to this music, TOO FAST AND TOO LOUD!
