Album Notes
The Republic of Heaven is the first full-length release from husband-and-wife band the Endless, based in Los Feliz, CA. After two successful EPs, 2002's Grumpy Ghost and 2003's ...and i'm the queen of the moon, the duo release their most sonically and emotionally complex work yet: a haunting blend of electronic and alternative rock, rich in imagery and hailing from the tradition of such musical innovators as Kate Bush, Jane Siberry, Poe, and This Mortal Coil. Adriana and David Róze work as a symbiotic unit: lovers, band mates, best friends, and co-creators. As Legends Magazine describes it, 'It's almost like these two put everything out there - the persons they are, their entire being...some of the songs appear that personal. Naked indeed.'

The album's thematic content came forth following the death of Adriana's mother to cancer: a struggle to understand and accept grief, and the inevitable push to move forward and embrace life after loss. There is love here, and light, and a deep contentment in finding one's place in a world responsible for its own actions, a "republic of heaven." David Róze's warm and melodic guitars and keyboards are the perfect palette for Adriana's silvery, plaintive vocals. Produced by David and Adriana, released by Queen of the Moon Music, and mastered by Matt Brown of Trespassers William, we invite you to experience the music of the Endless, which celebrated author Neil Gaiman called "aetherial, intelligent, and catchy at the same time."

Such a great album
Although this album came out in 2005, I only heard of The Endless this year. It is definitely one of my very favourite albums of 2008!

The songs are intense and powerful, very well played and beautifully sung by Adriana Roze. Her love for her mother and grief at her illness and passing are laid bare for all to see.

And, by the way, if you like this album you will love their ep "... nd i'm the queen of the moon", especially the final track Lee Miller.

Beautiful and powerful
Hauntingly beautiful lyrics, vocals, and instrumentals with a wide range of emotions throughout the CD. One of my favorites is Huntington, which has an uplifting quality to it. But, my absolute favorite, though short, is Closing Rite, with its simplicity and beauty of guitar and flute! Well done!

Simply beautiful
This is a wonderful album. Adriana's voice is so lovely. The depth of emotions contained in this single album left me stunned. I felt the pain of loss along with Adriana and was uplifted by the hopefulness in Republic of Heaven. This is an experience for your ears and your heart.

Emotional Obliteration (in the best way)
The Endless have put so much into this album, a review that would do my appreciation any justice might require a professor and a college semester, so I'll just share my reaction to "Simply Sleep"(track 4): The duo concoct music in this song that hits like an emotional trigger. That is, KNOCKED ME OUT OF MY FRICKING CHAIR LIKE I WAS HAVING SOME SORT OF CONVULSION! A convulsion caused, I think, by the tune's ability to convey a sort of ethereal peacefulness AND a more earthy sense of loss, but a split of happy/sad that a body just doesn't know how to translate...and that a soul can only appreciate. Thank you, The Endless, for hurting me so good.

Original and Brave
This CD shows even more artistic growth than their last. I love that their sound is not derivative in any way- the songs on this album are truly original, very personal, and above all, brave. The Endless invites you to enter an elemental ritual with this album, and to enter their special realm of beauty and pain, truth and sadness. Adriana's vocals are stunning, and David's haunting instrumentation is the perfect support for them. There is a timeless sense to these songs, and I appreciate the attention paid to the theme of the album, and the finely crafted arc of the CD's story. I think the real standout track is Clouded. The instrumentation is deliciously otherworldly and the vocal is so powerful and raw here. To me, its strength compares to some of Sinead O' Connor's amazing vocal work on The Lion and the Cobra. Chilling and inspiring at the same time- beautiful.

Collected Sounds

The songs are well written (including the intelligent and imagery laden lyrics) and professionally performed creating a first class record which fans of ambient, trip-hop, electronic rock will no doubt enjoy.

Beautiful and personal
Beautiful, lyrical, ethereal. Very moving and personal work, it's music that gets under your skin.

Beautiful Music
This CD is absolutely awesome! My husband and I listen to it in the car, in the house...wherever we go. The sound is like no other and I can't wait for more music to come out.
