Album Notes
The Final Edition is writer-driven, cutting-edge satire from experienced pros and emerging talents, led by Tony Hendra (This Is Spinal Tap, National Lampoon, Spitting Image) and Jeff Kreisler (Bill Hicks Spirit Award, author "Get Rich Cheating" & “Fools And Their Money”). It’s streaming, syndicated, on-demand and ferociously disrespectful.

The National Lampoon’s first original album in 35 years is The Final Edition’s “Are There Any Triggers Here Tonight?”

With its uncompromising satirical thrust and healthy disregard for establishment assumptions, “Are There Any Triggers Here Tonight?” sets out to recapture the spirit of National Lampoon’s glory years, and apply it to the pretensions, hypocrisies, injustices and inequities of 21st century America.

Led by Tony Hendra – an key member of The National Lampoon – “Are There Any Triggers Here Tonight?” resurrects the Lampoon’s spirit with this a satirical tour de force tackling contemporary targets from Bernie Sanders and Enya to abortion restrictions, affirmative consent, the NYPD, the TSA, combat roles for women and, of course, Elmo’s cocaine habit. It does so within a wider satire of hypersensitivity like demands for trigger warnings and safe spaces and kneejerk reactions to sharp comedy.
“Are There Any Triggers Here Tonight?” uses The Final Edition’s distinctive and acclaimed format of immersive, layered, and absurd sketch comedy in the tradition of National Lampoon Radio Hour.

The album takes the form of a “live” performance at a small Ohio college in three parts (Side One, Side Two & Side Three). The reaction of the audience grows more and more negative and riotous as the Final Edition cast escalates their no-holds-barred satire and, by the time of the surprise ending, the campus auditorium is trashed and empty… because, yes, there were some triggers here tonight.

It may be too soon to say the National Lampoon is back, but with Hendra, The Final Edition and “Are There Any Triggers Here Tonight?” it’s certainly on its way.
