Album Notes
These 11 songs comprise the soundtrack to the original stage presentation by Joe Tougas. As The Frye (formerly Fish Frye) Tougas and Ann Fee have played original songs for nearly a decade in the Midwest. "The Best of Hank and Rita," on stage, is a final concert by the fictional Hank and Rita, a married pair of songwriters who scored some Top 40 time once in the early 70s. The have since been playing to smaller and smaller audiences and tonight, about 10 years since their last hit single, they're in their smallest gig yet. The show begins with a letter read in voiceover by Rita. She's leaving the act, she's leaving Hank. And she's leaving the letter for Hank to find after the show, which she explains is her last.

The show begins and they perform their two perky hits from the past ("The First Time" and "Without A Home") but they soon depart from their set list and begin to request songs of each other, songs ranging from heartbreak to devotion. Their stage show becomes a breakup conversation with heartbreaking, sometimes funny cases made for staying and leaving. By the show's end, Rita has a decision to make.

This album is not only the soundtrack of what's performed on the stage, but is enhanced by a full band courtesy of great players Billy Steiner, Dave Pengra, Mike Pengra (all current members of City Mouse) as well as Footy Husting and Lehi Gertz.
