Their Town?

by The Get Rwongs

An infectious romp through an array of styles, each misspelled in a sly New Orleans patois. Steel guitar versus organ on a bed of unorthodox ethnic percussion, rescued by stunning female harmonies: How can something so Rwong feel so right?

Album Notes
A strange supergroup featuring people you've never heard of, the Get Rwongs started as the "fill-in" band whenever the featured act failed to arrive at notorious Ninth Ward nightclub Mimi's. That's where legendary producer Mark Bingham heard them and invited them into Piety Street Recording to make this album, specifying only that it not sound like either member's previous bands. Mission accomplished! Both Cuccia and Orr have haunted New Orleans stages for well over a decade, between them performing or recording with the Iguanas, Marianne Faithfull, Truckstop Honeymoon, Myshkin, the Tin Men, James Singleton, David Dondero, the Happy Talk Band, Aashish Kahn, Tim Green, Cassandra WIlson, Ed Sanders, St. Cecilia's Asylum Chorus, Glyn Styler, Y'All, Michael Huisman (from TV's TREME and NASHVILLE), Blind Texas Marlin, Little Maker, and a bunch of other artists who will get pissed we forgot mention them here.
