Album Notes
"You guys can play everything!" That's a comment we get a lot at weddings, parties, and dances.

The Gigmeisters have been kicking around for two decades, playing regularly in the DC area and beyond. Made up of Alexander Mitchell on mandolin and fiddle, Dave Wiesler on piano and guitar, Ralph Gordon on bass, and Paul Oorts on a whole bunch of instruments ranging from fretted strings to accordion, The Gigmeisters can handle styles of music from contra dance to Irish, from bluegrass to swing, from tango to Scandinavian, from bossa nova to folk rock.

This album features intricate Gigmeisters arrangements as they showcase a collection of Dave Wiesler's original waltzes, written over the course of a decade for Jamie Platt and his family. Like the Gigmeisters, Dave writes music in many styles with his own inimitable thumbprint, and this album shows off the breadth and depth of style, emotion, and feel. There are jazz waltzes, American folk style waltzes, modal waltzes reminiscent of northern and eastern Europe or Spain, waltzes of classical character, gentle waltzes, driving waltzes -- something for everyone.

The fifteen waltzes on the album are conveniently indexed with tempo for use in waltz instruction and range from slow (104 beats per minute) to blazingly fast (188 bpm). But whether dancing to them or just listening, the waltzes are guaranteed to draw you in.
