ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) composed 75 songs during her lifetime, as well as producing the first "mystery play." Her music is far more intricate than the familiar Gregorian Chant of the Church. She received her songs in the visions she experienced, and she received them as unified compositions that symbolized the union of body and spirit. She titled her song collection "Celestial Harmony," indicating their heavenly origin.

This album was finalized in March of 2012 and represents the first project of The Hildegard Singers (www.thehildegardsingers.com). We have since given concerts in our home state of Michigan and are now listed in the Michigan Arts and Humanities Council Touring Directory. In 2013 we were invited to perform at Cambridge University and the University of Trinity St. David in Carmarthen, Wales.
