ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Holy Ones is a progressive garage rock/psychedelic dark pop quartet from
Helsinki, Finland.

Their music floats through the sounds of the 60s and the 70s psychedelic garage rock, reaching the atmospheres of hard-rock, punk and dark pop of the 70s and the 80s. While you might sense influences such as, among many others, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Kingston Wall, Blue Öyster Cult, The Stooges, The Doors, QOTSA, TSOOL you can still catch the original heart of The Holy Ones’ sound.

The story of The Holy Ones dates back to the early spring 2016 in Helsinki, when Aku Raivio/drums (Nollaseiska, No Direction, The Noir Brigade) asked Japa/guitar (Private Line, The Salvation, The Noir Brigade) to try out some songs he’d been working on. They both had previously played in a Helsinki-based garage punk band, The Noir Brigade. Aku had already hooked up with an old friend Täxi Roxx/vocals (Freaks Of The Revolution, State Of Perfection). So eventually, ”The Holy Ones” were born in September 2016, when the trio first started rehearsing together. The last piece in the puzzle was to find a bass player who would fit into the group. Täxi suggested Juuso Salmi (Angelina Gracie, Maihinnousu, Ilkan Patsas) who was a bass player in his solo-project. After Juuso had completed his first rehearsals, the puzzle of The Holy Ones was complete.

2017 was spent jamming together with new song ideas and discovering the live sound of the band. This led to the conclusion of recording the whole debut album live at the rehearsal studio.
Only vocals were recorded afterwards.

The first single ”…and Still they Ride” was released (digital) in May 2018. This single represents the ”dark psychedelic garage pop” sound of the upcoming The Holy Ones album. The band played their first live show in August 2018, in Semifinal, Helsinki and was praised with great reviews from the audience.

The second single and video, ”Shine”, is released worldwide in September 2018, in all major digital stores and streaming services. The debut album will be out in the end of 2018 by digital release and special double vinyl pressing.
