Album Notes
The illicit Sextet has been on a roll again for quite a few years now, from the successful reunion of the group after a decade-plus hiatus, to the release and critical acclaim around the Chapter Eleven CD followed by our main-stage appearance at the Twin Cities Jazz Festival, and including the more-than-regular recent appearances in Minnesota Jazz clubs, recital halls, and weekly concert series. All the while, the group members keep writing and bringing new compositions to rehearsals and performances. After all, this ensemble was chartered in 1987 as a Jazz Composers Collective, and has remained so throughout the years including the time directly leading up to the recording of Addendum.
This is the Group’s third studio recording, and so Addendum refers to our commitment to continue to compose, perform, and release new material on a regular basis, and to have that output considered in context with the previous original music… as an addition to the body of work. The Ensemble hopes you will enjoy this batch of tunes as much as we do, and we look forward to the future chapters of our progress. We humbly dedicate this release to the many people and organizations that continue to stay directly or indirectly involved in supporting the activities of The illicit Sextet.
