ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"My Fire" is the last 10 songs in a 30 song set that make up the 3 albums I released this year. I set a goal 6 years ago to write 100 of the best songs I have ever written. I then narrowed it down to these 30 songs as the best of those 100 songs. This album is the finale, in many ways it’s the most powerful of the 3 albums. We've definitely turned up the intensity this go round. I am honored to have worked with a great people on all three of these albums. Patrick Andrews is a talented bass player. He has a great ear for sound and mixing, as well as a wide understanding of different styles of music. I was able to rely on Pat in many ways on this project. Khanida Taylor is a true talent. She not only has a great understanding of melody and harmony, but brought a lot of imagination, creativity, and attitude to the vocals she added. Dan Flagel plays piano. I don’t have to tell him much and he comes up with something interesting every time. He just responds to the music naturally. Ramiro Sepulveda understands rhythm and percussion from around the world. He also has this great ability to take what he knows and apply it to any situation. Tammy Sawyer has a beautiful singing voice. She has a presence and tone that can’t be denied. We also have great performances from Colin Newfeld and Karl Valiaho on various brass and wind instruments. They masterfully added Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, and even some Sousaphone. Thanks again guys! Thank you Drums on Demand, for all of your tasteful loops and beats. Every musician should check out drumsondemand.com. Thank you to our family and friends as well for your patience. I hope you all feel as we do that the results are worth the wait and sacrifices made. Jeff Mertick
