ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Sending up a Flare is a live-in-the-studio recording. It is "a record" of how the Chiefs sound live and who they are at this point in time. Stringed instruments, button box accordion and percussion support three distinctly different vocalists as they swoop and dive across a broad Americana songscape that intersperses three of their own compositions with ten covers. Using techniques gleaned from early Beatles sessions, the recording has a presence that places the listener "in the middle of what they are hearing... as if they were right in the room." Spare arrangements keep the focus where it belongs... on the song. No pyrotechnics. No overdubs. No smoke and mirrors. Just the Joint Chiefs... in a room... Sending up a Flare.
