Album Notes
It’s been four years since Preston and Bonkowski’s last CD release, but they are back with a musical vengeance.
Joined by guitarist, David Schade, they are proud to release their new CD, “Riding With Mr. Blues”.
Gary Preston, Anita Bonkowski and David Schade bring a wonderfully diverse collection of bluesy
songs to the plate in this recording. Here you’ll find soulful Chicago-style blues,
gospel, swingin’ jump blues, and New Orleans style rhumbas, all featuring the searing harmonica,
rock-solid rhythms, and sweet jazz/blues guitar of the West Coast’s musical treasure, The KingmiXers.
The natural ease with which the trio performs is a true testament to their musicality. Through it all, Gary’s fiery
harmonica playing and soulful vocals are capped off by the tasty guitar stylings and vocals of David, all the
while supported by the deep, rhythmic grooves provided by Anita on both bass and drums (and even piano).
Those who have heard advance copies are already singing their praises and calling it the musicians’ best CD yet.

Among the 13 tunes on the CD, 12 are originals, many of which have received wide recognition on
Preston and Bonkowski’s fifth European tour this past June.

Preston and Bonkowski formed in 2005, releasing their first CD, “Satisfy Somebody” in 2006, followed by
Bright Lights” in 2008. Since their formation, they have received airplay world wide, completed five
Western European tours, and continue to perform both locally and around the Pacific Northwest.
Their charismatic stage presence has captured the attention of both critics and fans, resulting in invitations
to perform in numerous festivals, including the Calgary International Blues Festival, the
Vancouver Island MusicFest, the Islands Folk Festival and the Du Maurier International Jazzfest.
This summer they ar just back from Belgium, and will be on the festival circuit again.

“We’re extremely proud and excited about ‘Riding With Mr. Blues’. Not only are the tunes upbeat, energetic
and full of variety, but the recording also cemented the start of a beautiful musical relationship between the three
musicians on the CD”.

Reviews of previous CDs:
"...they create one heck of a formidable duo. GARY & ANITA are to this arena what Fred & Ginger,
Bogart & Bacall, Burns & Allen and Lucy & Desi were to theirs...GARY's harp is equal to, if not better than,
any of those other cats that constantly make everyone's top five harmonica player lists."

"Satisfy Somebody" is a wonderful mixture of songs...Gary and Anita meld their talents together as they
magically compliment each other...I give "Satisfy Somebody" my highest rating of FIVE Stars."

"Gary and Anita are yet another pairing of such fine, fine talents emerging from Canada...
very much worth a listen! Fab!"
BRIAN HARMAN, bluesartstudio (Vienna)

"...exceptional blues style...great feeling for authenticity...blues lovers cannot ignore this CD!"

"Riding With Mr. Blues" - Seriously good music... Jazzy Blues and much more, at
"Riding With Mr. Blues" is one of those nice rare albums in which you really don't know what is around the next corner ... a nice treat among many on this album was track 2, "Southern Train" with its great opening Harmonica from Gary Preston ... great track...
One really got a truly intimate feeling with all aspects of the music and singing coming through loud and clear, whether it be Gary's harmonica, piano, and keys, Anita faithfully holding the beat on bass, drums, and piano, or David's super sweet guitar work. Mix that in with great vocals and you have got yourself a sweet way to spend the better part of a nearly an hour.
I am impressed with "Riding With Mr. Blues" and I am also very pleased to give it my highest rating of 5*****.
Seriously good music... Jazzy Blues and much more, at its very very best...

Wow, this is some CD! I listen to a lot of CDs in the course of selecting material for my program, I've got to tell you this is one of the best I've listened to in a very long time. I have marked every track for airplay most of them 4star on my rating system (1-4 stars). I look forward to playing your CD on BluesBeat for many weeks to come.
