ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The second album of music recorded by The Legendary Ten Seconds about the life and times of Richard III. Tant Le Desiree is old French for I have longed for it so much. It is one of the mottoes of Richard III which was found written in his own hand, together with his name on a page of a book of the story of Ipomedon, the best knight in the world.

Rob Bright: guitar & banjo
Tom Churchward: melodeon

The lyrics for Shakespeare's Richard:-

SHAKESPEARE'S RICHARD

MASTER WILLIAM YOU HAVE SHOWN
A TYRANT ON THE ENGLISH THRONE
A HUNCHBACK WITH A WITHERED ARM
HIS REPUTATION HAS BEEN HARMED

SHAKESPEAR'S RICHARD TO SEE AND HEAR
A VILLAIN TO LOATH KING HENRY TO CHEER
PLANTAGENET TRAGEDY
HISTORY, RHYME AND MYSTERY

MASTER SHAKESPEARE FOR YOUR QUEEN
WITH SONNET AND DRAMA YOU DID DREAM
MORTON'S TALE YOU HAD READ
BY THOMAS MOORE YOU WERE MISLED

SHAKESPEARE'S RICHARD THEY DID HEAR
A VILLAIN TO LOATH KING HENRY TO CHEER
TUDOR REWRITTEN HISTORY
RICHARDS CHARGE THE DEATH OF CHIVALRY

ROYAL PROGRESS:-

Composed by Lord Zarquon & Ian Churchward

Bm D F#m Bm
UPON HIS ROYAL PROGRESS HE TRAVELED THROUGH THE LAND

Bm D F#m Bm

HIS ROYAL CORONATION OF JUST TWO WEEKS AGO
BUT OF A FOUL CONSPIRACY HE WAS YET TO KNOW

TO SEE HIS ROYAL PROGRESS FOR MILES THEY DID WALK
TO GREET THEIR NEW KING RICHARD WHEN HE ARRIVED IN YORK
OF BUCKINGHAM'S BETRAYAL HE WOULD SOON BE TOLD
THE SCHEMES OF BISHOP MORTON THEY WOULD SOON UNFOLD

A Wonderful Thing
A stunning follow-up to his first Richard III album, Ian Churchwood's new album was released yesterday for download. Another collection of songs and instrumentals of the life and times of Richard III, it combines folk-rock music with the distinctive tones of mediaeval music. All the music has been written by Ian, with lyrics by him and his wife, Elaine, with the exception of the lyrics of The Boar lay Slain which were written and illustrated by Frances Quinn. With Ian as the lead vocalist, he is sometimes accompanied by Camilla Joyce or by the Gention Sisters, DD and Jingle. The music is performed using a variety of stringed instruments and keyboards, augmented by modern technology. This music is the sort which sticks in your head all day. Whether or not you are interested in Richard III, if you l like English folk-rock, you will love this.

Tant Le Desiree
I have always enjoyed a touch of medieval music. The Legendary Ten Seconds has brought that back to my mind with a touch of modernness. Telling history through music is a great way to teach and the Legendary Ten Seconds do this with a wonderful flair. I look forward to each song. Tante Le Desiree is one of my favorite albums thus far.

Something Special
Tant Le Desiree - I learned about this album and "Loyaulte Me Lie" at the same time and I was a little skeptical at first, but I'm absolutely delighted that I went ahead with getting both of them. They both became my favourite CDs in no time. This one puts together a great variety of songs - all about Richard III. That's really nice, but it doesn't actually matter all that much - it's the music that will enthrall you first. There are fast paced songs as well as slower ones and excellent instrumentals like "the Ragged Staff" which has some interesting sound effects. But this is not the only one with sound effects - "White Surrey" - not an instrumental - has outstanding sound effects as well. This is one of my many favourite songs on the album as it grips you and takes you straight to the battlefield of Bosworth.
All of the songs have an interesting or exciting story to tell. They are about the battle of Twekesbury, Edward IV's campaign to France in 1475, the reinterment of Richard of York and his son Edmund at Fotheringhay, Richard the 3rd's Royal Progress and many others. And that's part of the real beauty of this album. Because the enormous talent of Ian Churchwald and all who had a part in working on this project - the music, the harmony, the lyrics, the rhythm - it all comes together so perfectly.
