ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Living Eyes are a Geelong four-piece who play garagey punk-rock songs reminiscent of dropping a coin in an interpretive 60s - 80s psych-garage jukebox….their music comes at you like a king wave of super-charged fuzzy guitars, gnarly vocals and an infectious driving rhythmic drum beat. The Living Eyes self-titled debut album which was released on 1st April 2013 via Z-Man Records (plus a limited number of cool coloured vinyl available via ANTI-FADE Records), was produced by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring/plus a slew of producer credits) at the helm. The end result of Mikey waving his magical wand over it reflects a tight production capturing the sound of a band who are heavily influenced by punk and garage from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s as well are modern day purveyors of fine rock’n’racket. Preferring to keeping it local, the album was recorded over a two day period in their hometown Geelong, a town currently enjoying a renaissance of high musical output amongst a tight-knit musical community, seemingly kicked off by The Frowning Clouds, who amongst other local bands are friends of the lads. Bands which
The Living Eyes enjoy outside of their own rock and roll circles include Rolling Stones, Ty Segall, The Kinks,
and 13th Floor Elevators. The Living Eyes consist of Billy Gardner (lead guitar/vocals), Mitch Campleman (guitar/backing vocals),
Dayle Herbert (bass) and Nicholas Hill (drums). Their self-titled debut CD is now available at all good record stores (via Z-Man Records/Fuse Distribution) and CD Baby, iTunes etc.
The band was one of the highlights from last year’s Aussie Nuggets compilation and they completely inhabit the spirit of the era emulated on that comp....Snotty, impudent, incorrigible garage tones that want nothing more than to corrupt..... There’s a sneer at the end of every line and a whiff of axle grease in every chord.
Embrace it and play this shit as loud as the knobs allow.....Put it on your wishlist, because you need this
one! -Raven Sings The Blues blog, UK
“Psychedelic and Garage rock is getting bigger on the road to revival every day. Tame Impala, Pond and a gang of others are bringing back the psychedelic scene. But it’s these boys from Geelong who are kicking up a storm on the airwaves.”- The AU Review website
"Damned if these guys and their neighbours/brothers The Frowning Clouds aren't among the best young Aussie bands around....There's garage rock and there's garage rock. Sometimes the stripey shirts and AC-30s merge into a blur. Not so The Living Eyes. Trust me on this one." - i94 Bar website
