ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Up from their Deep South birth in Baton Rouge by the levee of the mighty Mississippi, the Louisiana Riverfront Band was sonically magnified by their recording near the Spanish Lake Swamp at co-producer Harold Cowart’s analog and digital studio in Prairievile. Raised on Rock R&B live performances in southern dance-halls, college and radio station concerts, high school, parties, nightclubs and roadhouses, and studio certified with their ace rhythm section and solid songs, LRB materialized for this recording after several manifestations of the three musicians in several bands. Their most common denominator was with their college group The Playboys a/k/a John Fred and the Playboys, the eight piece killer R&B/R'nR horn band that was playing and recording across the South. They were a featured concert attraction with Dale Hawkins [original hit of "Susie Q" ] Benny Spellman ["Lipstick Traces," and the original version of "Fortune Teller", written by Allen Toussaint], The Dave Clark Five ["Glad All Over" plus 8 Top 10 hits] and Jessie Hill ["Ooh Poo Pah Doo" & "Whip it On Me"] various radio sponsored All Star shows and more. The band became an international household name with their hit record “Judy in Disguise” a Billboard #1 worldwide. Each of the three artists performed with the PBs together and separately over the years starting with Lynn on bass and his moving to guitar for serveral years after which he became the band's manager. John Fred a guest vocalist on this LRB cd was with the Playboys almost from their beginning to the mid nineties before he started recording with LRB. [More info at www.LRBmusic.com]
