Album Notes
"Step up, miss! Here in the factory, the gates are always open... Don’t resist! To be made whole again, you’ll first need to be broken…” So begins "Beauty Factory" (2016), album number two from The Love Markets (spinners of whiskey waltzes and slinky tangos, seekers of love and revolution in a world where everything is for sale). The craftily cajoling title track whispers in your ear like a devil of advertising, conjuring up a churning, chugging assembly line where trusting fools longing to fit in can "purge each imperfection" ("Don't you want life easy? Don't you want to be / The one your friends envy?"); the songs that follow are a dream of resistance against that factory grind. "Beauty Factory"'s ten songs trace a path of decadence, romance and rebellion in unlikely places, from the middle-aged housewife alone in a bar at happy hour to the accountant who sprouts fur and howls at the moon, from passion aboard a freak-show caravan to a Mardi Gras gone excitingly wrong. As always, The Love Markets celebrate our fantasies and foibles, suggesting that whether you're a bad girl trying to be good or a good girl longing to go bad, it's your humanity that counts. Stand your ground, lift a glass, and thumb your nose at the machine!

Fronted by singer-songwriter, actress, and Academy of American Poets prizewinner Angie Louise, The Love Markets have been gracing/disgracing stages since 2008. Louise's wide range of musical inclinations find ideal expression in the sounds of her "ruffle-clad ruffians": Robertson Witmer's shape-shifting accordion, the struts and groans of David Marriott Jr.'s trombone, Dave Pascal's dexterously juicy bass, Chris Monroe's sinuous drums, and Louise's own highly expressive vocals and adventurous keys. "World Of Your Dreams", the band's 2013 debut, found its inspiration in the art and concerns of Weimar Berlin; "Beauty Factory" builds on that inspiration with exuberance and soul, proving once again that love and revolution can be found anywhere.

"Sultry cabaret rhythm and a revolutionary's hankering to bring down the system." - Jetspace Magazine

"Beauty Factory is a sometimes rousing, sometimes haunting collection... A perfect inside look at our desires to remodel ourselves... Terrific lyrics... Sung by Ms. Louise in her best throaty, belting style." - Seattle Gay Scene

"Irresistible... Intoxicating theatricality... A deliciously dark carnival." - Seattle Magazine

"Uber-belter vocals... Ruffle-clad ruffians... Louise is a singer, songwriter and actress with fearsome chops." - City Arts

"A unique group of super-talents." - TalkinBroadway

"Achtung!!" - Seattle Times

Love Markets' Beauty Factory

You have to listen to this
The Love Markets do it again, only more so. This album has a wide range of style and emotion, and it moves beautifully within all of it. With their unique wry humor and musical power they evoke cabaret, cabernet, catharsis and very catchy melody. I literally laughed and cried over this album. They have refined their style and made it their own and you will love this album.

Beauty Factory Scores Big!
The Love Markets offer an amazing follow-up to their debut album, World of Your Dreams. Beauty Factory is like a collection of finest sweets, each a Dean & DeLuca's delight on their own, but all the more decadent as a whole. My personal favorites would be the nutty and chewy title track with its clever lyrics and syncopated sound, reminiscent of a Warner Brothers cartoon...and the double-dark chocolate of You Could Be Anyone Tonight, featuring some interesting "dialogue" between band leader Angie Louise and trombonist David Marriott Jr. Every song is lovingly enfolded with Louise's salted-caramel vocals, rich and oh, so satisfying! Go ahead...INDULGE yourself.

Great new album by The Love Markets
Every song is better than the last! Some are sad and some are a blast. I can't believe these guys aren't incredibly famous. Listen!

A Must Own Record
Witty, alluring and whip smart accompanied by great musicianship. The Love Markets are like nothing else - a must for your music library.

Happy Chef

Pull out your headphones
Time to slip the jack into your stereo slot, put those headphones to your ears and push play... and let the sound of Angie Louise start to invade all your senses with joy. This CD is a must hear from beginning to end, over and over and over because each time you hear the lyrics combined with the the strong tones in her voice and accompanied by her talented band members... all I can say is plan to close your eyes and have your face consumed with a smile. I enjoyed every wiener schnitzel filled moment, and that is why I chose to be a Holy Schnitzel and have not regretted a moment. Buy this CD and experience the joy time and time again.

Love Markets' Beauty Factory

I absolutely love this album
There is nothing else out there like the genre-defying The Love Markets. The songs (all original, and I mean original) are written by Angie Louise, whose writing talent is matched by her incredible wide-ranging voice. The band is composed the most talented musicians you'll hear anywhere, and the combination of accordion, trombone, drums, & (sometimes) keyboard creates a sound unique to this group. These songs will stick in your head, but in the best way.

Weimar Republic meets the blues
Weimar Republic meets the blues, mixed in with musical theatre and a little bit of country rock, “Beauty Factory” - the first song and also the album title- sets the tone into a modern Brechtian/Kander & Ebb-ish musical journey that invites the listener to experience intellectual and emotional discoveries. From the in your face challenge of the “Heaven Song”, the universal yearning of just wanting to be loved in “The Bottles Are Blue” and the intimacy of “You’re Not Alone”, Angie Louise’s music demands your attention and the more one listens, the more alive one’s imagination becomes and thus rewarded. My favorite is “By the River Again” as I somehow visualize Patsy Cline instead of Marlene Dietrich or Sally Bowles performing the song in a dark smoky club in 1930’s Berlin. What a trip and I love it!

Love this CD
I was given this CD as a gift. I love this band. Songwriter, Angie Louise is a very talented artist. Beauty Factory is so unique. My family also loves the album.
