ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
As the title of The Mad Ants new album suggests, “International Anthem” has a song for every corner of the world. This amazing four-piece rock band of two guitars, bass and drums along with the distinctive throaty vocals of Joel Justin, has stayed true to it's rock roots. Lead guitarist Ben Garcia outdoes himself showing off his ability to play any style of music. Drummer Clyde Selsor plays in the pocket on every song and fills the holes with percussion instruments suited to each track. Dan Peters bass, as always, seems like it's not even there until you tune in to his track, then you realize he's playing what the song is begging for. The thirteen-song album has special guest appearances adding B3 organ, bass guitar, female backing vocals and even a high school choir. But at the core of the Ants sound are guitars plugged straight into loud tube amps and drums played aggressively that perfectly compliment these infectious melodies that have you singing along on the very first chorus. “Let me in” is a sure fire winner but it doesn't stop here. “I'm Lost” reminds you of The Rolling Stones at their very best.“Let it go-Or give me up” has guitar riffs that slice right through you, then you find it impossible not to move your body to the thumping of it's heavy kick drum. There's Reggae, there's Country, there's Folk and even Progressive Rock, but there's nothing resembling over-produced pop music to be found here. Just great songs and a great sound. The inspiration for International Anthem was conceived by Justin while he was touring Brazil with his newly assembled all Brazilian band “The Pigeonz” who were supporting his solo album, “4/4” that included the top-twenty Brazilian hit “Now.” But Justin knew only the Mad Ants could capture what such a diverse album needed to sound like. The Mad Ants pride themselves on being a throwback to Seventies rock where very little effects or gimmickry were used. International Anthem is a hybrid recording, mixing analog and digital in a very unconventional way. On most of the songs only six microphones were used to capture the basic tracks, using only three mic's on the drums which gives the album a sound as though you were there in the room while it was being recorded. Lot's of vintage guitar over-dub's builds an orchestra of voices so deep you can't help but find more and more counter-melodies the more you listen. Start to finish it plays like a masterpiece record should play, so play it loud; this is what authentic rock music is supposed to sound like. Recorded and Produced by Joel Justin. Mixed by rock producer Andre T. in Salvador, Brazil. For a limited time, download the (six) B-Side bonus tracks.
