Album Notes
The Marrieds, Jane Carmichael (vocals, ukulele) and Kevin Kennedy (vocals, guitar) officially formed in December 2010 when they were snowed in together during London’s 3-day-long, record-breaking snowstorm, “Snowmageddon”. Each day they wrote and posted a snow day song on YouTube. The songs quickly went viral and received over 10 000 views in a couple of days which also captured the attention of CBC Radio, making them “The Sound of the Day” across Canada.

This young couple currently has two full-length albums (Self-Titled released in 2011 and Saving Hope released in 2013) as well as an EP (Snow Song Trilogy released in 2011) under their belts. They’ve shared the stage with Kathleen Edwards, Bahamas, Danny Michel, Peter Katz, Treble Charger, The Trews, Lennie Gallant, Colleen Brown, Ian Thomas and Meaghan Smith to name but a few.

Nominations include the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Awards in the Vocal Group of the Year category, 2013 Jack Richardson Music Awards in the Folk/Roots category, 2012 Jack Richardson Music Awards in the Fan Favorite category, 2012 London Music Awards in the Folk/Roots category and 2012 Toronto Independent Music Awards in the Folk/Roots category. They were in the Regional Top 10 in CBC’s Searchlight Competition 2014, Regional Top 20 in CBC’s Searchlight Competition 2013 and #2 on The London Free Press’s Top 10 Albums of 2013.

They recently took home the 2014 Jack Richardson Music Award in the Folk/Roots category as well as CHRW 94.9’s 2014 Juried Local Album of the Year Award.

Although The Marrieds have enjoyed some marketing uplift due to the novelty of their name and backstory, Saving Hope clearly proves that this is a marriage that will last.
