ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Moose Whisperers formed at the 2015 Appalachian String Band Music Festival in Clifftop, WV. The group, comprised of fiddler Mattias Thedens (Oslo, NO), banjoist Jake Blount (Ithaca, NY), guitarist Luke Barnhill (Charlottesville, VA) and bassist Johann Miller (Frederick, MD), entered the Traditional Band Competition. Although they failed to make the finals that year, they reformed in 2016 with Ben Nelson (Asheville, NC) on guitar. They won first place, and decided to record this album when they reconvened the following summer.
The album features a collection of classic fiddle tunes from sources like Ed Haley, Fiddling Arthur Smith and Tommy Jarrell. Three tracks feature Jake Blount on vocals. There are twin fiddle as well as twin banjo tunes, all in drivin dance rhythm.
