Redheads and Indians

by Them Raggedy Bones

This debut album is a refreshingly rootsy take on country/rock, hearkening back to the founders of the genre in the late 60's and early 70's. The clear folk and blues influences help to give this record an unpretentious, and unmistakably American sound.

Album Notes
Redheads and Indians is the first release from Them Raggedy Bones, a five piece outlaw country/folk/rock band featuring two guitars, bass guitar, lap steel/dobro, and drums. The band began in Boulder, CO in 2012, as an acoustic collaboration between songwriters Andy Matteo and Adam Frishman. The two found that their similar approaches to country, folk, and blues influenced songs, firmly grounded in the American roots tradition, formed the basis for a strong musical partnership. The addition of Adam’s long-time collaborator Kevin Joseph on bass guitar brought some improvisational flair to the group, in addition to filling out the low end. With Colorado native Luke Smith on drums, and recent Texas transplant Doug Clement on lap steel and dobro rounding out the sound, Them Raggedy Bones is equally comfortable playing outlaw country, blues, folk, rock & roll, or embarking on extended improvisational excursions.

“Them Raggedy Bones is poised (to) get their hand on the torch and carry it ( oultaw country ) futher into the depths of Colorado’s music scene’s heart.”
