ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The idea for this recording came about during a formal band meeting/beer appreciating seminar in the Alaskan metropolis of Talkeetna (pop: 876, mayor: Stubbs the cat, Independent). Several weeks later it came to fruition, recorded live in the space of one long weekend, and one small cabin--The Round House--a lovely space provided to us by Fairbanks locals Karen and Tim Foote. Despite the spontaneous nature of the recording, it is a project that is near and dear to our hearts. The Norris Bowers Band is a hearty mix of two families is a hearty mix of two families who have been jamming and rabble-rousing together for longer than Stubbs the cat has been alive, resulting in a sound that pushes the boundaries of traditional old time music, while remaining true to its spirit. It's the sound of old time music as we like to hear it played, and it's the sound of Gin Chicken. We encourage you to grab your dancing shoes and to enjoy Gin Chicken responsibly.

The Alaskan-based Norris Bowers Band features a talented mix of seasoned acoustic musicians: Jason Norris (mandolin/fiddle; formerly of the nationally acclaimed Bearfoot Band), Scott Norris (guitar; formerly of Hot Strangs), Celine Vaillancourt (percussion; Bayou Glacee), past Berklee and ETSU students Ryan Bowers (bass; EelHouse, Rock Bottom Stompers, Lost Dog) and Aurora Bowers (fiddle; Midtown Revival, the Hannah Yoter Band, the Brain Trust, Last Frontier), and Boss Hog himself, Pete Bowers (banjo; Rock Bottom Stompers, Lost Dog, Hog Heaven StringBand, and formerly Five Buck Fiddle).

"What a treat! These folks know their old-time music." -Dan Levenson, Banjo Newsletter
