ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Biography:

Originally the artistic outlet of Matthew Szlachetka as early as 2002, The Northstar Session has since grown to a 4-piece collaboration between Szlachetka, Kane McGee, Dave Basaraba, and Paris Patt.

Audiences appreciate their ability to unite generations of music-lovers with a "vintage-rock" sound - an obvious homage to the great bands that influenced them - while still incorporating a new feel and personal variation on a simple rock style. A seemingly perfect blend of new and old, The Northstar Session focuses on the value of the "song" first and foremost.

This 4-piece rock band hails from Southern California, and has quickly amassed a worldwide following for their recorded works. Supporting only an EP for the first year, they have played to sold-out audiences from Seattle, WA to San Diego, CA, and hope to grow their live audience in 2008 - their second year together - when they head out to support their first full-length release: New Prehistoric Times (2008 CD).

Audiences and Reviewers have likened their music to that of The Band, Wilco, The Black Crowes, The Wallflowers, Ryan Adams, and Counting Crows.

Very strong songwriting. The lyrics are straightforward but intelligent. The sound is a product of many influences, but still the band's own.
The album would appeal to those who enjoyed the alternative scene of the 90's.

The perfect blend of song writing and musicianship. This band is going places, so buy New Prehistoric Times so you can say that you knew them before they were stars.

Refreshing!!!
The songwriting and vocals as well as strong backrond rhythms make this album one that you will find yourself listening to over and over again. They seem to have taken a slice from every great rock genre and put their own personal stamp on it.

easy listening in the best sense
If you're older -- like me -- you consider this CD a throwback to when groups sang songs (didn't shout words) that contained melodies. If you're younger, this is just a great indie rock CD.

Northstar Session has a breeziness about them that's easy on the ears. Their musicianship is excellent and their focus -- on the music -- is spot on.
