Album Notes
CLEVELAND, OH – With a series of annual high-energy holiday shows filled with fans who can belt out most of the band’s original 60-song holiday catalogue, The Ohio City Singers ( have established themselves as a seasonal staple. The OCS, since 2008’s Love and Hope, have released a total of 4 albums of original holiday music. This year they continue on with two new original singles, “What’s the Name of Santa’s Sleigh” and “Hey, Hey, Hey (It’s a Holiday)”.

The unique holiday-focused collaboration came about after Chris Allen’s father encouraged him to pen a Cleveland-centric Christmas song. “Doug McKean and I wrote a few of them, threw a party with our favorite musicians and recorded it,” he explains. The resulting CD was such a huge hit with family and friends that in 2008 they decided to put out an official album with producer Don Dixon (REM/Smithereens) and The Ohio City Singers were born. “Our aesthetic is still that sound of love and laughter when a Christmas party goes off rails late into a snowy night,” asserts Allen.

”The songs are about the Christmas season but the energy is about the Christmas party,” agrees Dixon, adding, “This is an indie rock band whose sole reason for existence is the holidays, and its musical appeal spans generations, resonating with children, parents and grandparents that grew up listening to Springsteen, Dusty Springfield and the Dead.”

Said The Plain Dealer’s Michael Heaton "Christmas ain't Christmas without the hi-octane seasonal spirit provided by the rousing and heartwarming Ohio City Singers. If you haven't seen one of their shows you don’t know what you're missing. Holiday fun for the whole family."

"If you love Christmas and rock ‘n' roll (and who doesn't) then your holiday season is incomplete without spending some quality time with The Ohio City Singers,” says beloved Cleveland rocker Michael Stanley. “It’s the North Coast's musical gift that keeps on giving!"
