Album Notes

Long before Green Day, there were “The OUTLETS”.

In 1980, Boston underground rock legends The OUTLETS, started playing their fun, kick ass songs at the Rat and the Underground, along with other early punk rock bands - Mission of Burma, LaPeste, Joan Jett, and the Ramones.

The OUTLETS first single “Knock Me Down” was an instant punk rock classic.
“Knock Me Down” is credited with launching stage diving, which erupted at OUTLETS shows.

Their next single “Bright Lights/Best Friends” was another underground rock classic.
Their early singles captured their powerful, high-speed energy. Future recordings never fully captured The OUTLETS great live sound – until now.

Their self-produced 2007 release is a set of power pop songs that The OUTLETS played in 1980.
If you saw The OUTLETS in 1980, you would have heard these fast, hard driving songs!

The OUTLETS original 7” recordings are now collectors items.
These impossibly hard to find songs are available on “THE OUTLETS ROCK 1980”.

The original Outlets were David Alex-Barton, Rick Barton, Mike White, and Walter Gustafson.

Check out Al Barr of Dropkick Murphys featured on track 12 "Living".

Rick Barton, formerly of the Dropkick Murphys, is now touring with his band Continental.

Outlets Rock!
This is a must have album. The songs are great and the recording is great. The only negative thing about it is they weren't kidding when they said that it also includes the 3 songs from their 7". They are literally recorded from an old crackle and pop sounding record. I've heard these songs on another CD with good sound quality. Especially with today's technology...You couldn't use a better master version of your most known songs? Still, BUY THIS CD NOW!!!
