The Ozark Highballers

Album Notes
Here's to the Ozark Highballers, one of the greatest string bands to pluck the strings and hit the road in many a year. The Ozark Highballers sound amazing, picking, bowing and blowing the competition off the face of the earth! This all star band is hard to beat." - Eli Smith, producer/host: Brooklyn Folk Festival and Down Home Radio Show

The Ozark Highballers formed when Clarke Buehling (banjo) and Seth Shumate (harmonica) decided to play the Farmer's Market of Fayetteville Arkansas early one spring morning of '14. Roy Pilgrim (fiddle) and Aviva Steigmeyer (guitar) had the same idea that day. Across corners and at odds, the four of us decided to join forces that morning and the result was too legit to quit. After cutting our teeth together that morning on the classics of the Arkansas Ozarks, we were forced to pine away for a few months until Roy and Aviva moved back to the family farm. After that it was highball speed for the four of us and one year after conception we bring you this CD. The powerhouse fiddling of Roy Pilgrim is backed note-for note by Seth Shumate's harmonica playing, synthesizing a melody not often heard and not soon forgotten. Clarke Buehling of the infamous Skirtlifters is bringing fingerstyle banjo back. Aviva, a parlor guitar maker herself, hauls the bass-runs with guitar and also bows the cello on the classic banjo pieces as Roy takes over on guitar.

Kelly Mullhollan recorded the album on a 1940's RCA ribbon microphone at Termite Tracs Studio in Fayetteville, AR. Kelly also mixed and mastered the CD.
