Album Notes
The Paragon Project is a collective of artists, poets and musicians who attend The Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center in Columbus, Ohio. The mission of the Paragon Project is provide a youth-led platform that gives voice to talented high school performing artists. The Paragon Project empowers students to compose and perform contemporary music that addresses complex social justice and mental health issues that impact teens through an arts integrated project. It is our intention that the content of each record is used for enjoyment as well as a resource for educators, families, or anyone who interacts with young people. In 2016, The Paragon Project Vol. 1 released their first album, “Someday We’ll All Be Free” to rave reviews. Timothy Welbeck of The Huffington Post said, “The Paragon is drenching with a depth of content and richness of sound..In that way, The Paragon is emblematic of intergenerational conversations between students and teachers that explore issues that extend well beyond the borders of Columbus.” In 2017, The Paragon Project continues to grow sonically and expand its fan base. In addition to their original compositions, the students also perform covers of classic R&B, Neo Soul, and Hip-Hop songs. The group has landed high profile performances at The Culinary Kickoff to the Kentucky Derby and the 2017 Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards.
