Album Notes
THE PARANOID CRITICAL REVOLUTION's new CD "Crimson Canvas" is available now. This is the band's third release but the first with versatile vocalist Roger Oldtown. The album features Oldtown's wide vocal range, more non-traditional harmony of guitarist Reg Bloor's own invention, odd meters, atonality, dissonance and the bands heaviest material to date.
The fourth release from Glenn Branca's record label SYSTEMS NEUTRALIZERS, "Crimson Canvas" was recorded by Reg Bloor and produced by the band.
THE PARANOID CRITICAL REVOLUTION has been playing the NYC club scene since 2006. The self-released debut CD "Death of the Cool" came out in December 2007 just in time to play ALL TOMORROW'S PARTIES, "A Nightmare Before Christmas" in Minehead, England. The band played at the South By Southwest Music Festival in March 2009. Their 2010 second release "Euphobia" was #1 on WXDU Duke University Radio's Loud Rock chart for the week ending August 8, 2010.
Vocalist, lyricist Roger Oldtown has previously sang and/or played guitar in numerous projects in NYC including: POLEMICS, MISCHIEF, THIS TIME, DEATH INCARNATE, CODE 6, CRUSH OF EMPIRES. Previously he built a reputation as a solo noise artist in San Juan, Puerto Rico using instruments he constructed out of discarded circuit boards.
In addition to PCR, Guitarist Reg Bloor has been playing with Glenn Branca (to whom she is married) since 2000. She played in Branca's Symphony No. 12, Lesson No. 3, his rock band Branca/Bloor, in his trio, eventually becoming Concertmaster for his Symphony No. 13 for 100 Guitars. She can be heard on Branca's CD "The Ascension: The Sequel" and performed as part of the world premier of his Symphony No. 15 "Running Through The World Like An Open Razor" (Music for Strange Orchestra) in NYC. In the late 90's she was a founding member of the Boston-based band TWITCHER, who released the self-produced CD "Leg of Lamb of God" in 1999 and appeared on the soundtrack for the Troma film "Terror Firmer".

"…leave(s) the starting gate with all pedals to the metal ... the heavily effected screeching, flailing drumming, and calculatedly manic time mangling continue more or less unabated until the end."
Barry Cleveland - Guitar Player

"Seething with treble, technically formidable, and crashingly dissonant, Paranoid Critical Revolution was another of those acts that create far more of a racket than would seem possible for a two piece."
Nate Dorr - Impose Magazine

"It’s like part black metal, part no wave, and part nuclear holocaust."
MP Lockwood - No Core

"Viscerally powerful, musical, precise. No time or anything else was wasted."
Ken Weathersby - The Neutral

"EVIL guitar / drum sickness, a phenomenally loud shrieking beast...instrument as pure apocalypse."
Cloudboy - Rottenmeats

"Whoa. That was pretty intense, to say the least."
Mike Watt - The Watt From Pedro Show

"I'm digging the Paranoid Critical Revolution CD - (Reg)'s a killer gtrist."
Thurston Moore - Sonic Youth
