Album Notes
Inspired by Julie Gold's classic song "The Rose" performed by Bette Midler in the 1970's, this song is a tribute to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence who have come through Safe Haven's doors seeking a brighter, safer life free from abuse. The first lines "A rose starved of sunlight, slowly dies in time" is a metaphor for what happens in an abusive relationship: the spirit is starved for healthy love and attention, and slowly withers away. Safe Haven helps victims to recover from the abuse they've suffered and overcome the pain in healing to enter a better and brighter life.
