Madison Park

by The Raz Band

Power Pop Punk Rock with a Classic rock twist. For the first time in years an album makes me feel so impressed that I need listen to the songs several times in sequence, and I do not get tired of doing it. Madison Park brings 16 tracks of pure rock n 'roll, where Michael "Raz" Rescigno puts all of his talent as a composer and shows his influences, which are originated in what is the most sacred in the world of music: the "Liverpool Sound" of Beatles and Badfinger, and the classically American Rock of Creedence Clearwater and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, just to name his inspirations, because the songs themselves carry the strong personality of the band. On this record The Raz has Michael Raz himself (guitar, vocals), Jeff Hutchinson"Hutch" (drums, vocals), Jim Manzo (bass, vocals), and the now official members of the band, Joey Molland (Badfinger) on guitars and vocals along with Joe Vitale (Joe Walsh / Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young / Eagles) playing keyboards. Is that good enough, or

Album Notes
2015 Album of the Year by Airton Dinez Editor Roadie Crew magazine in Brazil! THE RAZ BAND satisfied in all respects with platitudes and simple rock-pop fare that is still sorely inspired by the Fab Four. The band is good, and the album is packed with power pop and, rock & roll. This gets 5 out of 5 Music Guru Stars. Enjoy! " I met the Raz almost 40 years ago and he's been knocking me out ever since, the truth is in the songs, I don't think he ever had an idea outside of that idea, so I started playing on his sessions like a lot of other people, we've done gigs separate and together for all those years and here we are with a new record deal, thanks Gonzo, hello world, will anything ever be the same? sure it will, 'cept you'll have the Raz band to make sure,,All the best", Joey Molland. "Raz came to some of the Joe Walsh shows and my solo shows I did as far back as the early 70's....we've been friends ever since...both personally and musically !! We've recorded a ton of GREAT Raz originals and yes..Well, being a couple of devoted Beatles' fans, we have a similar sense of 'song'....the Raz catalogue is massive, current and rockin' !!! They are ALL fun grooves and great lyrics !! It's GREAT to re-introduce the Raz band to the world !! " Joe Vitale. RAZ features Michael RAZ on vocals & guitar, Jim “Hutch” Hutchinson on drums and Jim Manzo on bass. Says RAZ, “I play guitar, write songs, sing & produce. My father Bob Roberts Rescigno was a big band singer. He recorded solo records backed by Lifetime Grammy winner Hank Jones on Piano, Edgar Sampson Sax. I grew up in New Jersey, and moved to Los Angeles with drummer Jeff Hutch Hutchinson. Hutch & I grew up together & have been playing together since 6th grade.”

Before Michael formed “The RAZ Nasty Band”, which became “The RAZ Band”, he and Hutch were in an all New Jersey band “The Contents” and Joey Molland produced them. Some of the artists that have played on RAZ's albums or ones that he's been associated with are: Joey Molland (Badfinger), Joe Vitale ,(Joe Walsh, C,S,N & Y, Frampton, Eagles), Gary Duncan,(Quicksilver Messenger Service), Gilby Clarke (Guns & Roses), Stu Cook ,(Creedence Clearwater Revival), Randy Castillo, (Ozzy), Marc Droubey (Survivor), Rick Bozzo, (Meatloaf, The Frost, Sabu), Carla Olson, (Textones, Mick Taylor, Gene Clark). Preston Epps, (Bongo Rock, Bongos, bongos, bongos), Steve Gunner, (Belinda Carlisle, Creedence Clearwater Revisted). Some of the bands that RAZ have opened for are or projects that I was a part of: Badfinger, Missing Persons, Berlin, Steve Marriott, Marky Ramone, Bill Ward, Iron Butterfly. A song RAZ co-wrote is in the bio movie, “The Life, Blood & Rhythm of Randy Castillo”. Raz was also musical director for the Universal Wrestling Federation professional wrestling league, and wrote songs for wrestlers and music for their TV show.

Madison Park, The Raz Band's brand new album is a wonderful collection of music brought together over a few years, and in a few studio's around the Los Angeles area. Having toiled away in the rock and roll vineyard for longer than you might think, the release of Madison Park is actually dedicated to the "coolest place to ever grow up," so tells band leader, Michael Raz.

A classic example of an after hours album, where else would you find a group that has members having you mention Badfinger and Eagles in the same breath---but that’s where some of these band members come from. Played with pent up, busman’s holiday energy, this is a bunch of pros playing the way they want to play without some label geek that wasn’t even born when they were ruling the charts telling them which end is up. With a dose of after hours funky sloppiness that doesn’t roll off the rails being the intangible good time element, this is the kind of stuff you see in a club live that finds you not minding paying the babysitting some over time. A rollicking good time you have to be a long time bar band fan to really get. Hot stuff throughout for those in the know.In total there are sixteen that give great pleasure to hear, full of unexpected and surprising situations in many of them. True songs of rock 'n' roll, with attitude, feeling and melody. The The Band Raz are indeed in great form and sign a beautiful drive.
