(K)night of the Sorrowful Face

by The Red Tack

Crisp and upbeat, alt- country, glam country, electronically driven acoustic and electric guitars with a strong sturdy male voice. Complex lyrical themes not getting too stuck in the muck. Quick and fun to listen to. Great for car trips and pool parties!

Album Notes
These 12 songs were recorded in the heat of the summer 2017 when all hell was breaking loose. This is a labor of love meant to both wound and heal the listener. Ted Thacker is The Red Tack. He played all of the instruments on this album, for better or worse.
The excellent Kyle Jones of Sleeping Brotherhood Studios has expertly put this whole thing onto tape and made some sense of it.
This is a great record. You will like it.

(K)night of the Sorrowful Face

Haunting, toe-tappin', melodic, ecclectic
Man! This album is gooood! It's funny that it is labelled as "alt-"country when much of it is clearly rooted in the classic country of Cash and his contemporaries (The Ballad of Slim Cessna, Heartache, Gasoline Rainbow, Whiskey Bottle) - much more so than today's sorry excuse of the genre. There are also tones of Calexico and Devotchka (Headless Angels, The Riverboat), but mostly it's all Thacker, who's never at a loss for memorable, original songs. Haunting, toe-tappin', melodic, ecclectic. Whatever your tastes, there's something on this album for you. Download one song, or the whole album; whichever it is, you'll want to listen again and again.
