ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Original americana, folk and blues; featuring the playing of Grammy winning, IBMA intstrumentalists of the year: Vince Gill's fiddle player, Stuart Duncan, Union Station's Dan Tyminski's mandolin player, Adam Steffey, and much in demand resonator and steel player, Randy Kohrs, currently in Sweden backing up John Fogerty. A song for the 4th of July: Star Spangled Rendezvous. A mournful Christmas country song, Christmas Misses You. A call and response blues, featuring Mark HIll on electric guitar and Nashville's John McClure on organ: I Can't Find My Way Back. A blues more or less celebrating the sexual imagery of many rural folk blues, Siip, Slide, Mama. Three songs sung by the lovely 17 year old Molly Nelson: A tone poem to Mississippi, Mississippi Moonlight; A song about the disjunction in life when your life is overwhelmed by tragedy while everyone else in the world is just going around enjoying another ordinary day: Just Another Ordinary Day; and a true story about a woman I knew who just had to get away, After the Holidays. A song about how opposites attract, in spite of everything: I Can't Believe I'm in Love with You. A song about how the mood of your heart influences how you perceive the world: When Your Heart is Happy. A couple of semi-religious songs: I Believe in September and No Moon Tonight. And, finally, a song about being unfortunately diverted from the valuable but routine by the exciting but trivial in life: I Stayed Too Long at the Fair.
