Carolina Style

by The Ricky Johnson Band

This album is made up of songs I have written with my brother Wes Johnson and good friend Doug Belford over the years that fell off the radar. It's been a long time coming, I hope you all enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making it.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In truth I would love to say I sound like one of the greats out there, I have many favorites!! I am a huge Eagles fan, Travis Tritt is incredible as well as Skynyard, Zac Brown I mean the list goes on. Alas I can truly say I sound like none of these incredible artists though I am proud of the artist I myself am. I have been a singer/songwriter all my life and as you will hear not one of these songs resembles the next. I have picked songs from across the 40 years of my professional life to add here all of which come from different times and mental and spiritual places. I have written with many others over the years but I wanted to share the songs I wrote with my brother Wes as well as the one with Doug as I felt they needed to be heard. This album took a few years to record, mix and master with some of the greatest friends and musicians I have ever known. A special shout out needs to go to Dave Maguire and Pete Evick for their tireless efforts in helping to produce, engineer, mix and master this collection. Without Dave and Pete this would not have come to pass. The many musicians include artists I have known all my life and played with for the better part of my career. Chuck Bertrand and Randy Lindsay both from the band Outta touch and Jammboxx I have known and been proud to grace the stage with for over 25 years these two guys have stood by me through all of the ups and downs and I can not say enough about my appreciation for their strength and friendship, Then there's family My incredible nephew Jacob Johnson and beautiful daughter Chelsea Johnson as well as my big bro Wes Johnson, Jake with his impeccable timing and imagination bringing the percussion to life and Chelsea with her angelic voice making me sound so much better as well as Wes writing and whistling his way to greatness Wes has been such a huge inspiration to me over the years watching him and learning that if you want it go and get it. Doug Belford well what can I say the man is a legend and hands down one of the best guitar players and song writers I have ever known and I am proud to be called his friend, Carolina Style was his baby I just wrote the words!! Then there's Steve Bray and Gary Smallwood, If you are a resident of the mid atlantic region these names should be familiar, they are two of the most widely known highly respected musicians in the region adding their special touches to this endeavour adding the class only they can bring. Niko Koumarianos and Rob Maletik barely knew my name but being good friends with Dave agreed to risk their reputations on my project and knocked it out of the park. And finally the King, Mr Eric King to be precise agreed to lend his ( of course I gave him little choice ) outstanding resonating voice to "the Loner" which was one of Wes's favorite songs we wrote together making the song hauntingly deep. To all of my musical family I thank you from the bottom of my heart and to all of you out there listening I say only this. I have but one voice to lend and one heart to share, but these I give freely to those who will listen... Enjoy
