My Getaway

by The Rigg

It’s bouncy. It’s upbeat. It’s nice warm bass. It’s a quick one. It’s escapism. It’s background clapping. It’s toe tapping. It’s a wolf howl. It’s having a goal. It’s making a difference. It’s self-belief. Or maybe it’s just a nice little ditty.

Album Notes
We could begin our story in London of the 1950s, when the country was in the throes of its protracted recovery from the devastation of World War 2. Youth culture was unheard of in these austere times, and rock’n’roll was in its very infancy; certainly its future impact would have been unimaginable. However, to begin our story there would be a mistake, as you would get extremely bored and it’s rather irrelevant.

In fact, we need to look to the North of England, somewhere between the stunning city and the beautiful countryside, for it was here that four friends, drawn together by their shared love of great music and Birds Eye Potato Waffles (in combination or as separate entities, they’re not fussed either way), would meet and plot a course for nothing less than high-wattage musical perfection.

When unleashed upon an unsuspecting audience, those who experience a performance by these northern souls, are destined immediately to become nothing less than enraptured into The Rigg's loving (and slightly sweaty) embrace. A whole variety of establishments have had the sounds of The Rigg booming out, from Liverpool's world famous Cavern Club to universities, from main stages of O2 Academies, to sweaty social clubs. It has been said by none other than GoCompare’s Professor Stephen Hawking, that reading the Rigg's gig history page on the Internet reminds him quite a lot of the vast echoes of the birth of the Universe itself - except on a much, much, smaller scale.

After playing high profile gigs of their own on an extensive and well received UK tour, along with support slots with John Power (Cast/La's), The Paddington’s, The Bishops, Little Comets, and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs (Oasis), all was good in the world of Rigg. Then the pause button was hit in dramatic fashion. An extremely serious illness to bass player Simon Miller’s better half, caused an abrupt, unforeseen and totally unavoidable halt to the progress that had been made.

Since then Simon has proposed via a picture in Cosmopolitan magazine (isn’t he nice), she has said yes, fully recovered, and the play button has been pressed once again, Team Rigg are coming back to life.

A DIY / Local collaboration philosophy has been adopted.

Debut single 'My Getaway' is to be launched in early 2013.

Listen to a song by the band if you will. But afterwards, with your head awash with new musical possibilities, any member of their following will remind you of these wise words:
"They're canny good, like"
