Album Notes
The Robin Davis Duo may be small in numbers, but they will floor listeners with their big sound. The front runner of the duo is no surprise. Robin Davis made his first major bluegrass debut in the band Broke Mountain with current members of Greensky Bluegrass, The Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, and Jon Stickley Trio. Chris Eldridge of The Punch Brothers calls Davis the "undiscovered champ of ballsy bluegrass guitar."

Davis spent his entire upbringing with bluegrass on the brain. With a father as a banjo player, Davis formed his music ideology with the familiar bluegrass instruments we all know well. What started as a five-year old playing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" on the fiddle soon became a musician garnering influences from Clarence White, Tony Rice, and Buckethead (the man can shred electric just as well as his pre-war acoustic SUPERTONE).

Davis shared most of his career with the SW mountain town of Durango, CO, less than 60 miles from his family ranch in Pagosa Springs. In Durango, he was lucky enough to find a little lady. Jimi Giles, who plays upright bass in The Robin Davis Duo, learned guitar from her deadhead father at the age of ten, but it wasn't until she met Davis did she start pickin' up the upright bass. Together The Robin Davis Duo form the perfect match: fanciful guitar playing, a solid bass, and vocal harmonies galore in traditional and original tunes.

The Robin Davis Duo made their pilgrimage to the Front Range of Colorado in October of 2015. Currently, they reside in Boulder, sharing their music in the booming bluegrass scene.

"I've truly heard Robin play and sing things that I've never heard anyone ever play and sing - and I've heard a lot of acoustic music. His ability to bring power chords and heavy bass leads into his style is unmatched. His lightning fast picking, all the while holding to phrasing and tone, is clean and real. He's admired by all the best in the business," says David Smith, host of the Red River Ramble Bluegrass Show on Prairie Public Radio.
